The Georgia Driver’s Education Commission offers the Georgia Driver’s Education Grant Scholarship Program to offer driver’s education to Georgia students.
The grant scholarship program is open to Georgia residents ages 15 to 17 who possess a valid Georgia Instructional Permit or Driver’s License and wish to satisfy the Joshua’s Law driver’s education requirement by completing 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel driving instruction with an approved instructor.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is an authorized training provider under the scholarship program.

  • Scholarship Application Deadlines: Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship must apply by the last day of the month BEFORE a class begins. Example: If a class begins in July, students must apply by the last day of June. Scholarships will be awarded on the first day of the month. 
  • To apply for the scholarship and/or review eligibility criteria: Students will need to go to https://www.gahighwaysafety.org/gdec-resources/ to apply for the scholarship directly from the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission through an online application system.
  • To redeem a scholarship: If selected, students will be receive a redemption code on the first of the month and may choose a course provider from a list of authorized driver training schools to redeem the grant scholarship. 

Please note: Georgia Driver’s Education Scholarships are NOT awarded by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. Therefore, we are not able to check application status or answer questions about the process nor status of scholarships.
