Register today to earn your BLS Instructor Certification!

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.
Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Course Overview: The Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certification Course at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College equips participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to teach BLS courses effectively. This program is designed for healthcare professionals and emergency responders who wish to expand their expertise by training others in lifesaving techniques.

Students will need to complete the BLS Online Instructor Essentials Course, submit all necessary paperwork and certifications, attend an in-person class, and be monitored by a Wiregrass AHA instructor for their first class to receive Certification.

Cost: $350 - Includes In-person class, online Instructor Essentials class, instructor fees and On-Campus Monitoring. Students choosing to Monitor on a work site, will need to purchase a $85 Add-on (via special requests), to cover Instructor time and on-site fees.

After enrolling in the course, students will receive initial paperwork to align with Wiregrass and agree to confirm to AHA Standards. Students will need to send a copy of their BLS or Heartsaver Ecards to alicia.meunier@wiregrass.edu, or, sign up for a BLS/Heartsaver in-person or hybrid class to renew their certification before the day of the class. All documents and certificates must be received before the day of the in-person class.

Students will *ALSO* need to purchase their own Instructor kit from shopcpr.heart.org - click on Instructor Materials, and choose the BLS or Heartsaver Instructor Manual. This Manuel will need to be brought to the in-person class and monitoring. Students are also responsible for purchasing  and bringing the following to use during their Monitoring to demonstrate product knowledge: An adult feedback mannikin, an infant feedback mannikin, and an AED trainer.

Eligibility Criteria: Participants must hold a current AHA BLS Provider Certification.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will need to be monitored by the instructor- this will be an additional cost. The amount will depend on if you do your monitoring during one of our classes at Wiregrass, or require the instructor to travel to your workplace to monitor a class there. Once monitoring is complete, your instructor card will be issued and you’ll be able to teach classes once you have purchased the required equipment list for the courses you will teach.
