Course Description

 

This three-hour Confined Spaces Safety Training course is meticulously designed to educate participants about the critical safety aspects and OSHA regulations pertaining to working in confined spaces. Aimed at workers, supervisors, and safety personnel, the course offers in-depth knowledge and practical skills necessary for safely entering, working in, and exiting confined spaces such as tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, and pits.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding OSHA Regulations: Gain a thorough understanding of the OSHA standards for confined spaces (29 CFR 1910.146), including the definition of confined spaces, permit-required confined spaces, and non-permit confined spaces.
  • Hazard Identification: Learn to identify potential hazards in confined spaces, including atmospheric hazards, physical hazards, and environmental conditions that can pose risks.
  • Risk Assessment and Control Measures: Master the techniques for assessing risks and implementing control measures to ensure safety while working in confined spaces.
  • Permit-Required Confined Spaces Procedures: Understand the procedures for obtaining permits, the roles and responsibilities of the confined space team, including entrants, attendants, and supervisors, and the use of equipment for safe entry and rescue.
  • Emergency Response and Rescue Plans: Develop effective emergency response and rescue plans, understanding the importance of non-entry rescue techniques and when to employ them.
  • Equipment and PPE: Familiarize with the types of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment necessary for confined space operations.
